Challenged by a Ferret
Something moved in the hedge.
It caught my eye and I stood still and looked. There was a ferret walking along the hedgerow!
I watched it. It watched me! Then it left the hedgerow and came and sniffed my walking boots. (They have aromas of everything except boot polish).
Again it looked up at me and started climbing up my trousers! It reached a certain level and I thought thus far and no further. I shook it off and it sat up on its hind legs and looked at me as if to say “Why did you do that? I only want to be friends!”
I turned my back on it and continued my walk. Glancing back it was still wistfully watching me walk away. I wonder what difference it would have made if I hadn’t said “thus far and no further? If I hadn’t turned my back on it?
Well Jesus told stories and left people to work it out for themselves. So I will do the same!
